Wednesday, November 14, 2007 : Opus Awards 2007: Shelbourne & Killinan Stand receive awards

The Shelbourne Hotel and Killinan Stand, Galway Racecourse were among the winners at this year prestigious Opus Architecture and Construction Awards. The award ceremony took place on Tuesday 6th November in the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin.

The awards once again demonstrated the diversity and high standard of Ireland’s building and design industry.

More than 150 projects were submitted and 32 were short-listed.

Architect Ciaran O’Connor, chairman of the judging panel, presented the awards. Of the Shelbourne Hotel he commented ‘ the renovation of the Shelbourne Hotel has given Dublin back one of its landmarks in a positive way’. Eddie Campion was presented with the Heritage Award for the Shelbourne Hotel.

Michael O’Brien accepted the award for Killinan Stand, which received commendation for its completion in a remarkably short period of time.
