Wednesday, May 27, 2009 : Terminal 1 Extension Opens

Terminal 1 Extension opened at Dublin airport terminal on April 22. The €45m development is at the north-western corner of T1 and covers 7,500sq m (80,700sq ft), including new retail space.

The extension to the existing Terminal is located “Airside” ( in close proximity to Aircraft), and transport to the site is through the existing airside fire and security controlled areas. We also introduced Precast Lifts and Stair Cores which reduced on site construction periods, and we procured full design of the building in advance of the main contract.
The T1 extension provides an enlarged check-in area and is set to improve the flow of passengers between Piers A and D. Passengers enter the new area from the Pier A end of the existing retail precinct.
