Shelbourne Hotel Winner of the ‘‘Heritage Award’ at the 2007 Opus Architecture and Construction Awards
The project comprised of extensive refurbishment & extension work to existing hotel increasing the overall size from 6,000 m2 to 22,300 m2. The remodelling works have greatly enhanced and expanded the functional elements of the hotel and include; refurbishment of the existing public area including resturants, bars, health spa, conference facilities, the addition of a 7 storey 100 bedroom wing over two basement levels and the construction of a new ballroom over a new basement.
Striking Features
The removal of the lift from the main entrance lobby opened up the magnificent grand staircase which now forms one of the most striking features within the hotel.
The restoration of the Horseshoe Bar has been totally faithful to the original design and colour scheme.
The formation of the new modern design of the No. 27 Bar. The new bar layout has been formed by the combination of the old Shelbourne Bar and the No. 27 Restaurant.
The fabric lined walls to the refurbished 1st Floor Heritage meeting rooms including the historic Constitution Room.
The new extended ballroom and the refurbished Georgian pre-assembly rooms. The new ballroom can cater for 380 guests seated and has state of the art audio visual and lighting systems.
